Song of Songs 2:2-7

The Beloved

Like a lily among thorns,
So is my love among the daughters.

The Shulamite
Like an apple tree among the trees of the woods,
So is my beloved among the sons.
I set down in his shade with great delight,
And his fruit was sweet to my taste.

The Shulamite to the Daughters of Jerusalem
He brought me to the banqueting house,
And his banner over me was love.
Sustain me with cakes of raisins,
   Refresh me with apples,
   For I am lovesick.
His left hand is under my head,
And his right hand embraces me.
I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem,
By the gazelles or by the does of the field,
Do not stir up nor awaken love
   Until it pleases.

Oh Lord Jesus, you sit at your table feeding me on the finishing work of the cross. My perfume, the beauty deep within my spirit is released. I meditate all the night upon the Myrrh of God, the glorious work You did on my behalf. My beloved Christ Jesus, You are a cluster of flowers. You are not the heavy yoke of religion, You are to me the fragrance of such splendor, and I am to you, Your fair one. You see such beauty. You see that in my eyes the single devotion of dove's eyes. But I say back to you that you are more handsome than I ever imagine. Oh, the religion of the earth if they only know how pleasant you were, how lovely are Your dwelling places.

You are pleasant. Your commands are sweet, for you make me see that I am the rose. You see in me and in Your church the purity of the lily in the fallen valley of this broken world. You have made me, You have made me the eletive of God, the pure lily of the valley. Like an apple tree among the trees of the world, oh so You are more beloved, you are more delightful than all the sons of men. I sat down at your shade with such delight.

For You brought me to the banqueting table. Your banner over me, the delights of God are love, love, love. The accuser said the dealing is too severe, but I declare before the sons of men, the banner over my life is the love of God. Fly along a journey to the great banqueting talbe at the end of nature history, the wedding supper of the lamb.
